GIGABYTE Unveils Z890 AORUS Elite WiFi7 Plus and Z890 Eagle WiFi7 Plus Motherboards
GIGABYTE has announced the launch of its latest Z890 AORUS Elite WiFi7 Plus and Z890 Eagle WiFi7 Plus motherboards, designed to complement Intel’s upcoming Core Ultra 5 250K Plus and Core Ultra 7 270K Plus "Arrow Lake-S" processors. These new motherboards are engineered to provide seamless compatibility and optimal performance with Intel’s next-generation CPUs right out of the box.
Performance Features and Overclocking Support
Both the Z890 AORUS Elite WiFi7 Plus and Z890 Eagle WiFi7 Plus motherboards come equipped with GIGABYTE’s Ultra Turbo Mode. This automated feature applies additional boost frequencies and voltage offsets on top of Intel’s 200S Boost, specifically targeting the unlocked Core Ultra Series 2 "K" and "KF" processors. This ensures users can extract maximum performance from their systems with minimal manual tuning.
Connectivity and Expansion Options
In a notable design decision, GIGABYTE has opted to include a single 40 Gbps USB4 port instead of the dual Thunderbolt 4 ports typically found on Z890 motherboards. This approach helps manage costs while still providing high-speed connectivity for modern peripherals and devices.
VRM Design and Networking Capabilities
The Z890 AORUS Elite WiFi7 Plus stands out as the premium offering, featuring a robust 16+1+2 phase CPU VRM with 60A DrMOS for enhanced power delivery and stability. In comparison, the Z890 Eagle WiFi7 Plus is equipped with a 14+1+2 phase VRM, offering reliable performance for mainstream users.
Networking options differ between the two models. The AORUS Elite WiFi7 Plus is fitted with a 5 GbE wired LAN powered by a Realtek controller, while the Eagle WiFi7 Plus provides a 2.5 GbE LAN solution, also from Realtek. Both motherboards support Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4, utilizing Intel WLAN modules. The AORUS Elite WiFi7 Plus features a 320 MHz Intel BE200NGW module, whereas the Eagle WiFi7 Plus includes a 160 MHz Intel BE202 (BE200NGW-M) module.
Audio and User-Friendly Features
Audio quality is addressed with the inclusion of a Realtek ALC1220 HDA codec and WIMA capacitors on both boards, ensuring clear and immersive sound for gaming and multimedia. Additionally, both motherboards are equipped with convenient SMD buttons on the rear I/O shield, allowing for easy access to power, reset, clear CMOS, and USB BIOS flashback functions.
Pricing and Availability
Both the Z890 AORUS Elite WiFi7 Plus and Z890 Eagle WiFi7 Plus are expected to be priced around the $250 mark, offering a compelling blend of features and performance for enthusiasts and mainstream users preparing for Intel’s Arrow Lake-S platform.
