AMD Radeon RX Graphics Cards See Significant Price Drops in China
Chinese GPU distributors are currently offering select AMD Radeon RX graphics cards at prices below AMD’s official suggested retail prices (MSRP). Recent reports from Channel Gate reveal that many distributors in China are selling these GPUs at a loss, with some Radeon models being particularly affected by the price reductions.
Entry-Level and RDNA 4 GPUs Experience Notable Discounts
One of the most significant price cuts can be seen with the entry-level Radeon RX 7650 GRE. Originally priced at an MSRP of 2,099 RMB (approximately $308), this model is now available for around 1,740 RMB ($256), including sales tax. This represents a substantial 17% decrease from the official MSRP, making it an appealing option for budget-conscious gamers. However, this aggressive pricing strategy is resulting in financial losses for distributors holding large inventories of these cards.
The trend continues with the newer RDNA 4 generation. The Radeon RX 9060 XT 8 GB edition, which launched with an MSRP of 2,499 RMB ($367), is now being sold for 2,250 RMB ($330). This 10% reduction further enhances the value proposition for gamers seeking high-performance graphics at a lower cost.
Premium Models See Modest Adjustments
In contrast, AMD’s flagship RDNA 4 GPU, the Radeon RX 9070 XT, has experienced only a slight price adjustment. With an MSRP of 4,999 RMB ($735), it is now available for 4,950 RMB ($727), a discount of less than one percent. While the reduction is minimal, it signals that pricing for AMD’s top-tier RDNA 4 cards is aligning more closely with AMD’s recommended levels in the Chinese market.
Global GPU Pricing Trends and Market Implications
These price changes are a recent development in China. Just weeks ago, similar trends were observed in Germany, where RDNA 4-based Radeon RX 9070 and RX 9070 XT graphics cards began selling below MSRP. However, this was not the case in other regions, with Germany being the only market at the time to offer such discounts.
With China now joining Germany in offering AMD GPUs below MSRP, there is growing speculation about whether other global markets will follow suit. In many European countries and the United States, finding a graphics card at or below MSRP remains a challenge. The recent developments in China could signal a shift toward improved supply and more competitive pricing for gamers worldwide.
