Gigabyte Prepares Aorus RTX 5080 Infinity Wood Graphics Card
More than a year after Gigabyte introduced the Aorus NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 Infinity, the company appears to be expanding its Infinity graphics card lineup with a new variant based on the RTX 5080 GPU. Recent regulatory filings in Russia have revealed a new Gigabyte model, listed as "GV-5080NAORUSIF WD 16GD." This information was first shared by @RubyRapids on X (formerly Twitter), and further clarified by well-known hardware leaker Richard Huynh. According to Huynh, this specific SKU refers to the upcoming Infinity Wood edition graphics card, humorously noting the potential for misinterpretation in the product name.
Design Details: Infinity Wood Edition
In a previous post, Huynh mentioned that a Gigabyte representative described the new card as "a 5080 but with a wood style cooler." While the name suggests a wooden design, it is expected that the cooler will feature a printed wood texture or possibly a thin veneer, rather than actual wood components. This approach aligns with current trends in GPU aesthetics, where unique finishes and textures are used to differentiate premium models.
Regulatory Filings and Launch Expectations
This is the first public appearance of the RTX 5080 Infinity Wood, and as such, detailed specifications and a launch date remain unconfirmed. However, the regulatory listing indicates that Gigabyte is moving forward with the approval process, which often precedes an official announcement. With Computex on the horizon, it would not be surprising if Gigabyte unveils the new graphics card during the event.
Performance Insights
The previously released Aorus RTX 5090 Infinity features a boost clock of up to 2730 MHz, representing a 13% increase over the standard RTX 5090. This performance uplift suggests that the upcoming RTX 5080 Infinity Wood could also offer a factory overclock, providing enhanced speeds compared to the base RTX 5080 model. While specific performance figures are not yet available, enthusiasts can likely expect a similar focus on high-end capabilities and distinctive design.
