AMD Relaunches Ryzen 7 5800X3D as 10th Anniversary Edition with 3D V-Cache
AMD has officially reintroduced the Ryzen 7 5800X3D desktop processor, now branded as the Ryzen 7 5800X3D 10th Anniversary Edition. This special edition brings back the highly regarded 8-core, 16-thread CPU based on the "Zen 3" microarchitecture, featuring AMD’s innovative 3D V-Cache technology. The processor maintains the same specifications as the original 5800X3D, including a boost clock of up to 4.50 GHz and a substantial 96 MB of L3 cache.
The 10th Anniversary Edition distinguishes itself with exclusive branding on the retail packaging and includes a Carbice Ice Pad, a high-performance thermal pad designed to enhance heat dissipation. However, as with the original release, the package does not include an in-box cooling solution.
Performance Leadership on DDR4 Platforms
AMD positions the Ryzen 7 5800X3D as the fastest gaming processor available for DDR4 memory platforms. To support this claim, AMD compared the 5800X3D’s gaming performance against the Intel Core i9-14900K "Raptor Lake Refresh," with both systems equipped with 32 GB (2×16 GB) of DDR4-3600 memory. The results showed the 5800X3D delivering an average of 10% higher gaming performance than the i9-14900K in DDR4 configurations, reinforcing its reputation as the top choice for gamers using DDR4 memory.
The Ryzen 7 5800X3D 10th Anniversary Edition will be available starting June 25 at a price of $350.
Introducing the Ryzen 7 7700X3D: Zen 4 Gaming Power
Alongside the anniversary edition, AMD has also launched the Ryzen 7 7700X3D, a new gaming-focused processor built on the "Zen 4" microarchitecture. This 8-core, 16-thread CPU features a boost frequency of up to 4.50 GHz and 96 MB of L3 cache, utilizing the same 3D V-Cache technology that has become a hallmark of AMD’s high-performance gaming chips.
The Ryzen 7 7700X3D is strategically positioned between the 5800X3D and the latest "Zen 5" based 9850X3D, offering a compelling option for gamers seeking strong performance at a competitive price point. The 7800X3D remains discontinued, making the 7700X3D a notable addition to AMD’s lineup. The new processor will be available from July 16, priced at $330. AMD has not released official first-party performance benchmarks for the 7700X3D at this time.
With these launches, AMD continues to expand its portfolio of high-performance desktop processors, catering to both DDR4 and DDR5 gaming enthusiasts.
