GMKtec Unveils Neo-X1 and Neo-X1 Pro: High-Performance SFF Gaming PCs

GMKtec continues to make waves in the small form factor (SFF) PC market with the introduction of its latest compact gaming systems, the Neo-X1 and Neo-X1 Pro. These new mini PCs are designed to deliver top-tier gaming performance in a remarkably compact chassis, targeting enthusiasts who demand both power and portability.

Powerful Hardware in a Compact Design

The GMKtec Neo-X1 series is powered by AMD’s latest mobile processors. The standard Neo-X1 features the AMD Ryzen 9 9955HX, while the Neo-X1 Pro steps up to the Ryzen 9 9955HX3D. Both CPUs offer 16 cores and 32 threads with a 55W TDP, ensuring robust multitasking and gaming capabilities. The Pro model pairs this CPU with an NVIDIA RTX 5070 12GB graphics card, while the standard version is equipped with an RTX 5060 Ti 8GB GPU, making both options suitable for demanding gaming and creative workloads.

Advanced Cooling and Minimalist Aesthetics

To maintain optimal performance, the Neo-X1 series utilizes a built-in all-in-one (AIO) liquid cooling system. While details are still emerging regarding whether both the CPU and GPU are water-cooled, this approach is expected to enhance thermal efficiency and reduce noise, a significant advantage in compact systems.

The chassis measures just 14.6 liters, emphasizing portability without sacrificing performance. The minimalist design features two sturdy metal grab handles on top and a sleek, closed-off front panel. Front I/O includes two USB Type-A ports, a USB Type-C port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack, though specific port speeds have yet to be confirmed.

Connectivity and Expandability

Both the Neo-X1 and Neo-X1 Pro support Wi-Fi 7 and 2.5 GbE LAN for high-speed networking. While full details on rear I/O are not yet available, users can expect additional USB Type-A and Type-C ports, as well as multiple display outputs. The system is powered by an 850W modular power supply and offers space for two PCIe Gen 5 SSDs, ensuring ample storage and upgrade potential.

MoDT Technology for Efficiency

GMKtec’s use of Mobile on Desktop (MoDT) technology in the Neo-X1 series highlights a focus on energy efficiency and thermal management. Mobile processors typically run cooler and consume less power, enabling smaller, quieter systems. The integration of liquid cooling further enhances these benefits, making the Neo-X1 series an attractive option for users seeking a balance of performance and compactness.

Pricing and Availability

International pricing for the Neo-X1 series has not yet been announced. However, the systems are set to launch soon on JD.com, with the Neo-X1 priced at RMB 11,999 (approximately $1,772 USD) and the Neo-X1 Pro at RMB 16,999 (around $2,510 USD). While exact RAM configurations have not been disclosed, it is reasonable to expect options starting at 16GB and 32GB, given the premium positioning of these models.

The GMKtec Neo-X1 and Neo-X1 Pro represent a significant step forward in the SFF gaming PC segment, combining high-end hardware, efficient cooling, and a compact footprint for users who demand both performance and portability.
