AMD Unveils Radeon RX 9050: Entry-Level RDNA 4 Graphics Card

AMD has quietly expanded its RDNA 4 graphics lineup with the introduction of the Radeon RX 9050, targeting the entry-level GPU market. The Radeon RX 9050 is available in two memory configurations: 4 GB and 8 GB. However, only the 8 GB variant will be released as a standalone, discrete graphics card for consumers, while the 4 GB model is reserved exclusively for OEMs and system integrators building budget-friendly PCs.

Radeon RX 9050 8 GB: Affordable Performance for Gamers

The 8 GB edition of the Radeon RX 9050 is positioned as AMD’s most accessible RDNA 4 GPU, with an expected retail price of $279. This makes it the most affordable graphics card in AMD’s current lineup, appealing to gamers and PC builders seeking solid performance without breaking the bank. The launch is being managed entirely by AMD’s add-in board partners, with no reference “Made by AMD” (MBA) designs planned for this release.

Technical Specifications: 4 GB vs. 8 GB Editions

Both the 4 GB and 8 GB versions of the Radeon RX 9050 share the same core architecture, featuring 1,024 Streaming Processors across 16 Compute Units and a boost clock of up to 2.6 GHz. The primary difference lies in their memory configurations:

  • Radeon RX 9050 4 GB: Equipped with 4 GB of GDDR6 memory on a 64-bit bus, delivering a memory bandwidth of 144 GB/s. This model is intended for OEM systems and is not available as a standalone card.
  • Radeon RX 9050 8 GB: Features 8 GB of GDDR6 memory on a 128-bit bus, doubling the memory bandwidth to 288 GB/s. This version is available for retail purchase and is aimed at entry-level gamers.

Partner Models and Availability

Several AMD board partners have already announced their custom versions of the Radeon RX 9050 8 GB, including the PowerColor Radeon RX 9050 8 GB Reaper, Sapphire Radeon RX 9050 Pulse 8 GB, and the ASRock AMD Radeon RX 9050 Challenger 8 GB. While ASRock initially listed a 4 GB edition on its website, the listing has since been removed, leaving only the 8 GB Challenger model available for consumers.

With the Radeon RX 9050, AMD continues to offer competitive options for budget-conscious gamers and system builders, reinforcing its commitment to accessible, high-performance graphics solutions in the entry-level segment.
