AMD to Acquire Nod.ai to Expand Open AI Software Capabilities
AMD has announced the signing of a definitive agreement to acquire Nod.ai, a move that will enhance the company's open AI software capabilities. Nod.ai brings with it a skilled team that has developed leading software technology for accelerating the deployment of AI solutions optimized for AMD hardware.
The agreement aligns with AMD's AI growth strategy, which focuses on an open software ecosystem that makes it easier for customers to enter the AI market through developer tools, libraries, and models.
"The acquisition of Nod.ai will greatly improve our ability to provide AI customers with open software that allows them to easily deploy high-performance AI models on AMD hardware," said Vamsi Boppana, Senior Vice President of the Artificial Intelligence Group at AMD. "By adding the talented Nod.ai team, we can advance open-source compiler technology and enable portable, high-performance AI solutions across our product portfolio."
Nod.ai's technologies are already widely used in the cloud, at the edge, and on various endpoint devices. The company's SHARK software, which utilizes compiler-based automation, reduces the need for manual optimization and speeds up the deployment of AI models on AMD CDNA, XDNA, RDNA, and "Zen" architectures.
"At Nod.ai, we are a team of engineers focused on problem-solving and developing solutions for the next set of challenges," said Anush Elangovan, co-founder and CEO of Nod.ai. "By joining forces with AMD, we can bring our expertise to a wider range of customers globally."
Nod.ai currently delivers optimized AI solutions to top hyperscalers, enterprises, and startups. The acquisition by AMD will allow Nod.ai's technology to reach an even broader customer base.
